Community Development Block Grant (CDBG)

Program Description

FUNDING 

The Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program is a U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) program that provides funds annually to all entitlement jurisdictions. CDBG funds are used for community development and affordable housing activities. Each year, the City solicits applications from non-profit organizations serving low and moderate-income residents through programming that addresses priorities and goals established by the Economic & Community Development Board in the 5-Year Consolidated Plan for 2020-2024. 


2023-24 CDBG Program

The annual CDBG application period is now closed.

Public Hearings on the CDBG applications for 2023-24 will be held on Monday, February 13 at 5:30 p.m. (Bristol Public Library Meeting Room 3) and Monday, March 13 at 6:00 p.m. (City Hall West Meeting Room 1). The Public may submit comments on the applications and the City of Bristol CDBG Annual Action plan for 2023-24 by contacting dawnleger@bristolct.gov.

Annual Action Plan Year 48

The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development allocated $633,730 to the City of Bristol for 2022-2023.  The CDBG Annual Action Plan for Year 48 is available for review.

CDBG CORONAVIRUS (CDBG-CV) CARES ACT FUNDS

The City of Bristol has been awarded $776,730 from the U.S. Department of Housing & Urban Development (HUD) for CDBG-CV grant-making. All non-profit organizations serving the residents of Bristol were eligible to apply for grants to PREVENT, PREPARE FOR, AND RESPOND TO THE CORONAVIRUS - especially to assist residents of low and moderate income. These are non-renewable 3-year grants.

Fair Housing

The City is responsible to affirmatively further fair housing choice. This is accomplished by updating the Analysis of Impediments to Fair Housing Choice and working to correct the impediments that are identified.
