Yard Waste
WE WILL BEGIN ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR THE 2023 SEASON ON JANUARY 1, 2023
The City of Bristol offers a curbside yard waste collection service for an annual renewal fee, currently $90.00 for the season. The annual fee is set by the Board of Public Works, and is not pro-rated. Subscribers receive a 95 gallon green yard waste container. Yard Waste Collection is weekly (usually two days after your regular rubbish collection day, view our collection schedule here). The 2023 season will begin on Monday, April 3, 2023 and run through Friday, December 1, 2023 (weather-permitting, subject to change). You may renew your barrel (or sign up as a new customer) beginning in January, or at any point during the season. Barrels must be spaced a minimum of five (5’) feet apart. Please have barrels curbside by 6:00 AM on your collection day.
2023 YARD WASTE ONLINE SUBSCRIPTION FORM
Our online subscription form can be used for NEW SERVICE, RENEWALS, and REPLACEMENT STICKERS (for lost stickers). An online form must be filled out with all forms of payment to activate your service. Please call our office at 860-584-6125 for any assistance filling out the form, or if you would like us to fill out the form for you.
New customers: You qualify as a new customer if you do not currently have a yard waste barrel at your property. Starting in 2023, new customers are required to pay the $90.00 yard waste service fee, plus a $50.00 barrel deposit fee (per new barrel). This policy change is a result of the increased price of materials used to produce the barrels (resin), and the return rate of unused barrels. The barrel deposit fee applies only to new customers who do not have a yard waste barrel at the property, and does not include renewing customers. You will be refunded the barrel deposit fee when you are permanently done using the service and the barrel is returned in good condition. You must contact our office to schedule barrel retrieval and receive reimbursement.
If you are paying before the season begins, your barrel will be delivered in early March. If you are paying in March or any time during the season, your barrel will be delivered within two business days of the receipt of your payment. The current-year sticker will be applied to your barrel at the time of delivery.
Renewals: You qualify as a renewing customer if there is already a yard waste barrel at your property (even if from a previous owner). As a cost saving initiative, we no longer mail renewal notices. You may renew your barrel beginning January 1st for the new year. If you choose not renew your service, please contact our office so we can retrieve your yard waste barrel. Barrels that do not have a current-year sticker will not be emptied.
Lost/misplaced stickers will only be available for a $10.00 replacement fee. Request a replacement sticker by filling out an our online form and submitting your payment.

All yard waste must be placed in the provided yard waste container in such a manner that the material will freely exit the container when it is inverted. No dirt, sod, rubbish, rocks, sand, or other foreign materials are allowed. Barrels weighing in excess of 300 lbs. will not be emptied. No bagged yard waste or yard waste in regular rubbish barrels will be collected as part of your service.
Public Holidays
Yard waste will be collected on your scheduled yard waste collection day unless a public holiday falls on or before your collection day. In this situation your collection day will be one day after your regularly scheduled yard waste day (i.e. Monday routes will be picked up on Tuesday, Friday routes on Saturday).
