Sewer Billing
The Bristol Water Department provides the sewer billing for the City of Bristol's Water Pollution Control Department. Your bill, if you are a residential customer, is determined by your winter quarter's water usage. These months are used because the water consumed is not for washing cars or watering of lawns and gardens. The first two digits of your account number determine which district you are in and your winter quarter months. 01-are months of December, January, February, 02-January, February, March and 03-November, December, January. The sewer amounts remains the same for four quarters. Commercial and industrial customers are billed on actual usage each quarter.

Paying Bills
The Bristol Water Department issues a quarterly water bill along with a quarterly sewer bill for those of you connected to the City sewer system.

Bills are due and payable on the first of the month, however, you are given until the 30th of the month to pay without penalty. On the 31st day, the payment is considered late and penalties are applied. (When mailing your bill, the postmark date is considered the date received.)

If you have a problem paying your bill, the Bristol Water Department will allow you to make payment arrangements. Failure to make these arrangements may result in termination of service. See Collection Procedures, Customer Rights Procedure.

The bill may be paid in person at 119 Riverside Avenue where we have a drive-up window for your convenience or you may come inside our office. You may also send your payment by mail. There is a drop slot in the front door for after hours or weekends.

You may also pay your bill online. 
 
Lawn Irrigation Systems
If you are installing a lawn irrigation system, a permit application is required. A fee of $70.00 must be paid prior to installation. A Backflow Preventer is required and it must be an RPD device. No PVB's (Pressure Vacuum Breakers) are allowed. The RPD device must be tested annually (this is mandated by the State of Connecticut). The first test at installation must be done by Bristol Water Department at a cost of $35.00. Future tests may be done by the Bristol Water Department or a licensed inspector. An RPD failure must be corrected in seven (7) days.
